GAKappas.org (Lambda State) is a statewide chapter within the National Kappa Kappa Iota organization. A 501c3 non-profit organization, Lambda State follows all purposes and missions of the National chapter. We chartered October 4, 1958 as a unit of National Kappa Kappa Iota, Inc., one of the nation's oldest professional organizations for educators, with Louise Whelchel and Faustine Wootton being the founders.

Membership in Lambda State is open to anyone who is employed in the education field,  anyone who has been employed in the education field; regardless of work position, and to individuals who have been or are now employed in a field related to education. Membership is open to both men and women.
